PROFIBUS DP interface for S7-400 with extended temperature range
The Siemens 6AG1964-2AA04-2AB0 is a SIPLUS variant of the S7-400 IF 964-DP PROFIBUS DP interface module, rated for extended ambient temperatures from -25 to +60°C, with a maximum transmission rate of 12 Mbit/s. It operates as both PROFIBUS DP master and slave, supports isochronous mode (SYNC/FREEZE), and is isolated from the backplane. This module occupies a single-width slot in an S7-400 rack (26 mm wide, 130 mm deep, 54 mm high) and draws a maximum of 150 mA from the S7-400 bus. Typical power loss is 1 W.
Integration notes
The module supports up to 125 DP slaves depending on the CPU, and the maximum cable length is 1 200 m at 9.6 kbit/s, reducing to 100 m at 12 Mbit/s. Equidistance and direct data exchange (slave-to-slave communication) are supported, which allows deterministic cycle times in motion-control applications. The isolated DP interface provides 24 V for external components, with a current-carrying capacity of up to 150 mA for the 24 V output and 90 mA for the isolated 5 V output. No external 24 V supply is required from the module; it derives power from the S7-400 backplane.
