Required free air clearance: 45 mm above and below the unit; sides can be flush (0 mm). This matters when laying out a sealed cabinet — the 45 mm top gap is not optional for convection cooling.

Siemens recommends a branch circuit breaker from 6 A (characteristic B) to 16 A (characteristic C), or a specific motor-protective circuit breaker 3RV2011-1HA10 (8 A setting) or 3RV2711-1HD10 for UL 489 compliance. The unit itself has a 10 A input fuse protection type.
