5-pole digital input slice for PROFIBUS DP racks
The Siemens 6ES7 141-1BF11-0XB0 is a BM141 digital input module with 5 poles, built for the ET 200 series distributed I/O family. It connects via a PROFIBUS DP interface, running at transmission rates up to 12 Mbit/s, and accepts 8 digital inputs at 24 V DC. The IP66 enclosure means this module handles washdown environments — the housing seals against hose-directed water, not just splash, so it fits food, beverage, or outdoor conveyor sections where a standard IP20 slice would fail.
Input characteristics and field wiring
Each input channel accepts 2-wire sensors with a quiescent current up to 1.5 mA, and the signal thresholds are -3 to +5 V for a logic '0' and 13 to 30 V for a logic '1'. Input filtering introduces a 1.2 ms minimum and 4.8 ms maximum turn-on delay — the PLC scan sees a debounced signal, so fast edge detection needs a high-speed counter module instead. Short-circuit protection is electronic and built in; reverse polarity protection is not present on the module side, so the 24 V supply rail should be fused or diode-protected at the panel level.
