Module overview and fit
The 6ES7131-6BH01-0BA0: Signal thresholds are defined: a logic '0' spans -30 to +5 V, logic '1' from +11 to +30 V. Input filtering is adjustable with minimum transition times of 0.05 ms and maximum of 20 ms for both rising and falling edges, giving you flexibility to debounce noisy contacts or catch fast pulses. The module draws 1.7 W typical from the backplane bus. It mounts on a BU type A0 BaseUnit, which handles 1-wire, 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire sensor connections — for 2-wire and above you add a potential distributor module. Shielded cable runs up to 1000 m, unshielded up to 600 m.
Diagnostics and configuration
Diagnostics are comprehensive: group error, diagnostic alarm, and per-module wire-break detection are all supported. The wire-break circuit is optional and uses a 25 kΩ to 45 kΩ pull-up — useful for simple encoder contacts where you want to catch an open line without false triggers. I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) is supported for asset tracking, and the module is parameterizable with automatic encoding. Firmware version is V0.0, and field-update is not possible — the module ships with the factory firmware. No isochronous mode, no oversampling, no counter function, and no short-circuit detection. The module does not support 24 V sensor supply on the module itself; that's handled by the BaseUnit or external power.
