32 outputs on a single PROFIBUS DP slice
The Siemens 6ES7132-0BL01-0XB0 is a 32-channel digital output module for the SIMATIC ET 200M distributed I/O system, communicating over PROFIBUS DP at up to 12 Mbit/s. Each of the 32 outputs switches 24 VDC at up to 0.5 A, grouped in blocks of eight with electronic short-circuit protection. That density — 32 points in a 235 mm wide module — means one slot handles what used to take two 16-channel slices, freeing rack space for other I/O.
The 0.5 A per output (in groups of 8) is the continuous current ceiling per channel — enough for most solenoid valves, indicator lamps, and small contactor coils, but not for direct motor or heater loads. The I2t rating of 0.05 A²·s with starting current inrush tells you the module can handle the brief surge when driving incandescent lamps or capacitive loads without tripping its electronic protection. Maximum switching frequency is 100 Hz on resistive loads, dropping to 8 Hz on lamp loads and 0.5 Hz on inductive loads — the inductive figure governs relay and valve applications where the flyback energy limits the cycle rate. The module draws 75 mA from the L5+ logic supply and dissipates up to 7.9 W — that heat has to go somewhere inside the enclosure. Horizontal installation is good to 60 °C; other mounting orientations derate to 40 °C. The 130 mm height and 60 mm depth are standard for the ET 200M form factor, so it fits existing backplane and wiring duct layouts without rework.
