What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 6ES7132-4HB12-0AB0 is a 2-channel relay output module for the ET 200S distributed I/O system. Each channel provides a changeover contact rated for 5 A, switchable from 24 V DC up to 230 V AC per the datasheet. The 15 mm width is noticeably narrow for a relay module, so it packs two isolated outputs into a single slot without crowding adjacent terminals. It is designed for loads where semiconductor outputs would be insufficient—higher inrush or mixed AC/DC circuits—and where the switching frequency stays within the module's limits: 2 Hz maximum for resistive or lamp loads, 0.5 Hz for inductive loads. Below those rates the contacts' mechanical life dominates.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 5 A rating per output holds for 24 V DC circuits. Minimum load current for reliable contact wetting is 8 mA. Thermal continuous current is also 5 A, so the rating is not a surge-only figure. Short-circuit protection is not built in—an external fuse or breaker is required on each output circuit. The module lacks diagnostics and short-circuit detection, so fault indication must come from the load side or a higher-level diagnostic block. Power loss is 0.6 W typical, which is low enough that the module does not require forced cooling in a standard enclosure. Maximum cable lengths are 1 000 m shielded and 600 m unshielded, adequate for most distributed layouts.
