What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6ES7132-6BF00-0AA0 is a 4-channel digital output module for the SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed I/O system. It provides current-sourcing outputs rated at 24 V DC, delivering up to 4 A per channel at ambient temperatures up to 60 °C. The module supports diagnostic alarms, group error reporting, and I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3). It mounts on a BU type A0 BaseUnit and is firmware-updateable (currently V1.0).
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
Each output is rated 4 A continuously up to 60 °C — no derating needed in a warm cabinet. Switching times are 100 µs turn-on and 150 µs turn-off at rated load, fast enough for most solenoid and contactor coils without adding delay to the logic scan. The module is designed for resistive and inductive DC loads; the 10 Hz maximum lamp-load frequency means it is not intended for PWM or high-speed strobe applications. Cable runs: shielded up to 1 000 m, unshielded up to 600 m. That covers long field wiring in a plant without repeaters. The isolation is type-tested at 707 V DC between channels and the backplane. Diagnostics include per-channel wire-break detection (though the module itself does not report wire-break at the channel level — the diagnostic alarm and group error flag cover module faults). Redundancy capability is built in, so you can pair two modules for fail-safe output paths.
BaseUnit and wiring
This module requires a BU type A0 BaseUnit. For 1-, 2-, or 3-wire connections, the standard A0 BaseUnit works; for 3-wire with auxiliary supply, add a potential distributor module. For 4-wire (e.g., separate load and sensor supply), use the A0 BaseUnit plus a potential distributor module. The 15 mm width keeps the slice count tight on the rail.
