Integrator's note on this ET 200SP output slice
The 6ES7132-6BF00-0CA0 is a 4-channel digital output module for the Siemens ET 200SP distributed I/O system. Each channel sources 24 V DC at up to 4 A continuous, derated to 60 °C ambient — that's the full rated current, no thermal foldback until above that point. The module supports MSO (Module-Specific Operation), meaning it can be used in an isochronous real-time (IRT) cycle for motion or high-speed logic applications where deterministic update matters. It mounts on a BU type A0 BaseUnit, which carries the wiring interface. The module uses automatic encoding so the I/O controller reads the hardware identity without DIP-switch setting. Diagnostics include channel-by-channel wire-break and short-circuit detection, plus a group error and diagnostic alarm — useful for fast fault isolation on a running line. Switching times are 50 µs turn-on and 100 µs turn-off, typical. The module draws 1 W typical power loss from the backplane bus. I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) is supported, which helps with asset tracking and firmware version control during commissioning.
Wiring and integration constraints
The module requires a BU type A0 BaseUnit. For 2-wire or 3-wire connection, use BU type A0 with AUX terminals or a potential distributor module. For 4-wire connection, add a potential distributor module. The module does not support current-sinking outputs — it is current-sourcing only. Maximum cable length is 1 000 m shielded, 600 m unshielded. The module is isolated tested at 707 V DC type test. Firmware updates are possible via the ET 200SP backplane.
