Module job in the ET 200SP slice
The 6ES7132-6BF00-2AA0 is an 8-channel digital output module for the Siemens ET 200SP distributed I/O system — it switches 24 VDC loads (solenoids, contactors, indicator lamps) on a per-channel basis at 0.5 A per channel, up to 4 A total per module at 60 °C. It is a standard DQ (digital output) module — no MSO (motor starter output) or PWM capability, so it is for on/off load switching only, not variable-speed or pulse-width modulated control.
Safety and diagnostics envelope
Rated SIL 2 per IEC 61508, the module can be used in safety-related applications up to that integrity level — for example, guarding circuits or emergency-stop loops where the output must be de-energised on a fault. Diagnostics include group error and diagnostic alarm, plus I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking and firmware version identification — firmware V1.0 is field-updatable. The module supports redundancy (two modules driving the same load) and is tested for isolation at 707 V DC type test between channel groups.
Base unit and wiring constraints
Requires BU type A0 base unit — 1-wire, 2-wire, and 3-wire connections use the standard A0; 4-wire connections need BU type A0 plus a potential isolation module. Maximum cable length is 1 000 m shielded, 600 m unshielded — long enough for remote field devices in a plant but not for inter-building runs without repeaters. Switching times: 100 µs off-to-on, 150 µs on-to-off at rated load — fast enough for most discrete control but not for high-speed counting or encoder outputs.
