Ratings and selection
The 6ES7132-6HD01-2BB1: The 20 A rating at 40 °C covers the total current across all eight outputs; above 40 °C the derating curve drops the limit to 16 A. For panels that push ambient above 50 °C, the same 16 A cap applies, so plan the output load distribution accordingly. Galvanic isolation is tested at 2 500 V DC (type test), which ensures the outputs are isolated from the backplane bus — important for systems where ground loops or noise from switching loads must be contained. The module is rated for 24 V DC nominal (rated value DC). Power dissipation sits at 1.5 W typ, which keeps heat contribution to the enclosure low for high-density ET 200SP racks.
System fit and integration
Mechanically, the module occupies 20 mm width on the DIN rail, 73 mm height, 58 mm depth. It mounts on BU type B0 for 3-wire sensors or BU type B1 for 2-wire connection; the base unit provides automatic encoding (the module signals its identity to the bus master), so swapping a failed module needs no manual address setup. Cable runs: unshielded cable up to 200 m, shielded up to 1 000 m. For long drops in noisy factory floor environments, shielded cable is the reliable choice. Redundancy capability and diagnostics (diagnostic alarm, hardware functional status from FS02) allow the CPU to detect channel faults and switchover cleanly in critical processes.
