Why this Ex-rated output module exists
The 6ES7132-7GD00-0AB0 is a 4-channel transistor output module for the Siemens ET200iSP distributed I/O system, designed for hazardous-area installations. It delivers 23.1 V DC at 20 mA per channel and includes one intrinsically-safe input for L shutdown.
What the diagnostics tell you in the field
Wire-break detection triggers when the load resistance exceeds 10 kΩ or the load current drops below 100 µA. Short-circuit detection fires when the output resistance falls under 80 Ω for a single output, or under 40 Ω when outputs are paralleled. Both conditions raise a parameterizable diagnostic alarm and light the group-error SF LED. The diagnostic information is readable over the backplane bus. Switching speeds are 2 ms max from 0 to 1, 1.5 ms max from 1 to 0. Resistive load switching is rated to 100 Hz; inductive loads drop to 2 Hz. The internal series resistor is 275 Ω, which limits the output current and helps the diagnostics detect open or shorted loops.
Panel fit and power budget
Typical power loss is 2.5 W. The module draws 290 mA from the load voltage L+ plus up to 10 mA from the 3.3 V DC backplane bus. With actuator supply, the L+ draw can reach 340 mA.
