8 outputs, 24 inputs, one ET 200M slot
The Siemens 6ES7133-0BN01-0XB0 is a combined digital output module for the ET 200M distributed I/O system, packing 8 solid-state outputs and 24 digital inputs into a single 235 mm-wide unit that draws its logic power from the backplane and its sensor supply from a separate L5+ terminal. Rated for 24 VDC operation, the module dissipates up to 5.5 W and is specified for horizontal installation from 0 °C to 60 °C (40 °C for other mounting orientations) — the thermal budget matters when packing adjacent slots in a sealed cabinet.
Switching speed and load handling
Outputs switch from 0 to 1 in 20 µs and from 1 to 0 in 0.5 ms, with a maximum resistive load switching frequency of 1 000 Hz — fast enough for solenoid banks and indicator arrays, but inductive loads drop to 0.5 Hz and lamp loads to 8 Hz, so valve coils or incandescent panels need external suppression or a derated cycle rate. The I2t rating of 0.05 A²·s with starting current inrush tells you the output can handle the brief surge of a cold filament or capacitive load without welding the semiconductor junction — useful when the load is a relay coil or a small DC motor brake.
PROFIBUS integration and diagnostics
Communicates at up to 12 Mbit/s on the PROFIBUS-DP backplane and supports SYNC and FREEZE capabilities for isochronous output updates — relevant when the module is part of a coordinated motion or fast logic sequence. Onboard diagnostics include a RUN LED, a bus fault BF (red) LED, and electronic short-circuit protection on each output — the BF LED alone saves a bus-parameter scan when a connector is loose or a station is missing.
