What it is, where it fits
The 6ES7134-4GB11-0AB0 is a SIMATIC DP electronics module for the ET200S distributed I/O system. It provides two analog current inputs, accepting both ±20 mA and 4-20 mA signals, with 14-bit resolution over the ±20 mA range and 13-bit for 4-20 mA. The module is 15 mm wide, consumes 0.6 W typical, and derives its 24 V DC supply from the backplane bus and load voltage L+.
What the ratings mean for your BOM
The integrating measurement principle with a per-channel conversion time of 65 ms means this module is suited for process signals that don't require high-speed updates — think temperature, pressure, or level transmitters rather than fast motion feedback. The 4-20 mA range enables wire-break diagnostics (configurable via software), but the destructive limit is 40 mA, so a shorted loop won't instantly kill the input. The digital filter can be set in four stages to match noise conditions; cycle time on all channels scales linearly with the number of active channels. No isochronous mode, so it cannot participate in equidistant PROFINET cycles. Width matters on a crowded ET200S rail. At 15 mm, this module leaves room for extra digital slices in the same station — a practical advantage when the panel designer is counting DIN-rail inches.
Integration notes
The module mounts on an ET200S terminal module (e.g., 6ES7193-4CC30-0AA0) and communicates via the backplane bus. Wiring is to the terminal module; the electronics module simply plugs in. The analog inputs are not isolated from each other, but the module is isolated from the backplane bus (tested at 500 V DC). For 4-20 mA loops, the shield is connected to the terminal module's shield terminal; max cable length 200 m shielded ensures signal integrity. Grounding should follow the ET200S system manual — one-point ground at the CPU side to avoid ground loops.
