Thermocouple input coverage and filtering
The Siemens 6ES7134-4JD00-0AB0 is a 4-channel analog input module for the ET 200S system, accepting thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, and T. Each channel is parameterizable with four stages of digital filtering (none, low, medium, high) that multiply the cycle time by 1×, 4×, 32×, or 64× respectively, letting you trade noise rejection against update speed per loop. Wire-break diagnostics are available for thermocouple inputs only — the module detects an open circuit on the sensor wire and can trigger a group error (SF LED) or be disabled per channel.
Integration into ET 200S station
The module snaps onto the DIN rail within an ET 200S station, occupying a 15 mm wide slice — the narrowest footprint for a 4-channel TC input, leaving room for power modules and digital slices in the same rail. Rated 24 V DC supplied from the ET 200S power module via the backplane bus; typical power loss is 0.6 W, so no additional heat derating is needed in a standard IP20 enclosure. Shielded thermocouple cable runs up to 50 m are supported; the module provides isolation tested at 500 V DC between channels and the backplane.
Measurement modes and resolution
The module uses an integrating measurement principle with a selectable integration time of 16.7 ms or 20 ms — matching 60 Hz or 50 Hz line cycles to reject mains-frequency interference. It also supports voltage measurement in the range -80 mV to +80 mV, which covers the millivolt output of any thermocouple at typical process temperatures. The comparison point (cold-junction compensation) can be set to none (internal) or to one of up to eight external RTD references, allowing compensation at the terminal block rather than the module.
