What this 4-channel analog input module handles
The Siemens 6ES7134-6HD00-0BA1 is an ET 200SP analog input module that takes four channels of voltage or current signals and converts them with 15- or 16-bit resolution, depending on the range. It accepts 0 to 10 V, 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, 1 to 5 V, ±5 V, and ±10 V — the ± ranges resolve to 16 bits including sign, the unipolar ranges to 15 bits.
Diagnostics and fault detection on the line
This module detects wire-break on 4 to 20 mA loops — a common failure mode in field wiring that otherwise looks like a valid zero-signal reading. It also detects short-circuits on 1 to 5 V inputs and on the encoder supply in 2-wire mode. A diagnostic alarm fires on group errors, and the module reports overflow/underflow conditions. Channel status is shown by a green LED per channel; a green/red bicolor LED indicates module diagnostics. Isolation between channel groups is tested at 707 V DC type test. The module also supports I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking in the TIA Portal environment.
Physical fit and BaseUnit pairing
The module is 15 mm wide, 73 mm high, and 58 mm deep — it occupies one slot width in an ET 200SP station. It mates with BU type A0 or A1 BaseUnits, which carry the wiring terminals and determine the field-wiring pitch. Maximum cable length is 1 000 m shielded for current loops, reduced to 200 m for voltage measurements. The module supports automatic encoding for slot identification and allows firmware updates in the field.
