Safety power distribution for ET200S
The Siemens 6ES7138-4CF42-0AB0 is a PM-E F PROFIsafe power module for the ET200S distributed I/O system, switching the 24 V DC voltage buses P1 and P2. It is rated for use in safety applications up to Category 4 per EN 954-1, SIL 2 (IEC 61508) with standard DOs, or SIL 3 without standard DOs depending on configuration, and Performance Level e per ISO 13849-1.
The module delivers 8 A continuous up to 40 °C, holds 8 A at 55 °C, and derates to 7 A at 60 °C. With resistive load at up to 50 °C, the relay output can switch 10 A max. The relay handles resistive loads at 2 Hz max and inductive loads per IEC 60947-5-1 (DC-13/AC-15) at 0.1 Hz max.
Diagnostics and isolation
Onboard diagnostics report group errors via a red SF LED, missing load voltage, and readable diagnostic information. Isolation is tested at 500 V DC between channels and the backplane bus, but there is no isolation between channels or between channels and load voltage L+. The module draws 28 mA from the backplane bus and 100 mA typ from load voltage L+ at no load.
