The 6ES7138-5EA00-0AA0: Rated 24 V DC input, with reverse polarity protection and a diagnostic status indicator for 24 V OK. Power loss max 14 W and current consumption max 2 800 mA — factors for enclosure thermal management and backplane budget. Isolation tested at 1 500 V AC between supply voltage and all secondary voltages, and 500 V AC between all output voltages.
Lifecycle & Compliance
Hazardous area approvals: CENELEC II2G EEx de [ia/ib] IIC/IIB T4, Tu = -20 °C to +60 °C. FM 3611 Class I, Division 2, Group A-D, Zone 2 and FM 3610 Class I, Zone 1 are listed as 'available soon' — request the final certificate from Siemens for your validation package.
Installation & Integration
Electrical isolation design: separate between supply voltage and power bus, between supply voltage and backplane bus as well as PROFIBUS DP interface, and between power bus and backplane bus as well as PROFIBUS DP interface. This multi-layer isolation simplifies intrinsic safety barriers. Mains/voltage failure hold-up time: 20 ms to the backplane bus / electronics of the IM 151-2 and to PROFIBUS-DP Ex i interface. Sufficient for orderly shutdown in a safety loop.
