What it is and where it sits
The Siemens 6ES7141-5AF00-0BA0 is the current-production digital I/O slice in the ET200eco PN family — a field-mounted remote I/O block that connects to PROFINET via an M8 shielded bus connector. It packs 8 digital inputs (24 VDC, type 2/3) and 4 digital outputs (also 24 VDC, 0.7 A total) into a 30 x 159 x 40 mm housing rated IP65/67. That IP class means it lives directly on the machine frame or conveyor line, not in a cabinet.
Temperature range and environmental fit
Rated for -30 °C to 55 °C ambient, so it handles cold storage, freezer lines, or hot production zones without derating — no heater or forced cooling required at the module level within that span. The module draws 25 mA from the backplane with no load; total encoder supply current is capped at 0.7 A. Power loss is 1.9 W typical, manageable in sealed enclosures.
I/O behaviour and diagnostics
Input thresholds: signal 0 at -30 to +5 V, signal 1 at +11 to +30 V — wide enough for long cable runs or voltage drops. Outputs switch in 1.2 to 4.8 ms rise and fall, suitable for fast valve or indicator control. Each output has a green LED status; a combined red/green LED reports module diagnostics. Diagnostic alarm is parameterisable — you can route short-circuit or sensor-supply fault messages to the controller. Short-circuit protection is electronic per module against encoder supply faults (module-by-module). Reverse polarity on the encoder outputs is protected against destruction. Isolation tested at 707 V DC type test.
Sourcing reality
This is an active current-production part (lifecycle stage: current). No last-buy window or phase-out is announced. We quote this one to order for BOM placement or line support — volume blanket or single piece, same RFQ process.
