Active PROFINET IO module for harsh-floor mounting
The Siemens 6ES7141-6BF00-0AB0 is an active-production PROFINET IO communication module with four digital outputs, each rated 100 mA at 24 V DC. Its IP65/67 enclosure means it mounts directly on machine frames or conveyor sections without a separate control cabinet — the M12 ports and sealed housing take washdown and airborne dust found on a rolling-mill floor or packaging line.
Protocol stack and switch
The module supports ARP, DCP, MRP, LLDP, Ping, and SNMP — a full PROFINET RT stack for real-time cyclic I/O and diagnostics. The integrated two-port switch (100BASE-TX, 100 Mbit/s) daisy-chains without an external switch, and autocrossing eliminates the need for crossed cables. Prioritized startup and diagnostic alarm functions let the controller bring the module online in a defined sequence and flag faults via the red/yellow SF/MT group-error LED.
Output characteristics and wiring reach
Each of the four digital outputs switches up to 100 mA; the signal "1" level is +11 to +30 V DC, typical input current 7 mA. Unshielded cable runs up to 30 m are allowed, which covers most machine-zone distances. The 5.5 W typical power loss stays within the ET 200SP backplane budget.
