8 outputs at 0.5 A, safety-rated
The Siemens 6ES7142-4BF00-0AA0 is an ET 200PRO digital output module delivering 8 channels, each rated 0.5 A at 24 V DC. That 0.5 A per channel is the rated value for a signal "1" — enough to drive small contactors, indicator banks, or solenoid valves directly, but you'll want to check the inrush if you're switching DC coils. It carries a SIL 2 rating per IEC 62061 and Cat. 3 / PL d per ISO 13849-1, so it slots into safety circuits up to that level without an external safety relay. The module reports a group error (SF, red LED) and supports diagnostic alarms — readable over the backplane.
Wiring and protection
Each output is short-circuit protected — the module detects a short to ground and responds with a typical threshold of 0.7 A. Reverse polarity protection is built in (load increasing, not destructive). The isolation between channels and the backplane bus is tested at 707 V DC type test. Maximum cable length is 30 m, shielded or unshielded. Switching frequency with resistive load tops at 100 Hz; with inductive load it drops to 0.5 Hz. On lamp load, max 1 Hz — so this isn't a high-speed output, it's a robust industrial sink.
Physical fit and power budget
The module occupies 1 byte of address space. Status indicators per channel (green LED) and a group error LED are on the front face. Diagnostic information is readable, and the module supports redundant control of a load.
