What this module is and what it does on the line
The Siemens 6ES7142-6BG00-0BB0 is a digital output (DQ) module in the ET 200SP family, built for PROFINET with IRT down to 250 µs in 125 µs increments. That makes it a candidate for isochronous applications like motion or high-speed gating where jitter under 10 µs matters. It carries 1 byte of output data and reads 1 byte of QI information. Protocol support covers PROFINET, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. MRP and shared-device mode with up to two EtherNet/IP scanners allow it to sit in a redundant network without a separate media converter.
Protection and diagnostics that keep the line running
Each output channel is short-circuit protected to M with channel-by-channel detection. Wire-break detection is built in; it trips between 48 Ω and 4 kΩ. That gives the maintenance planner a reason to log the fault before the motor drops out. Temperature range covers -40 to +60 °C—no derating worry in an unheated enclosure or next to a hot machine base. Diagnostic LEDs (IO LED red-green-yellow, MS/NS green/red, RUN green, ERROR red, MAINT yellow) make first-line troubleshooting possible without a laptop.
Where it fits in the system
No PROFIsafe or CIP Safety onboard—if the application needs functional safety over PROFINET, this module handles only standard I/O. The safety CPU would need a separate F-module.
