Part at a glance
The Siemens 6ES7144-4GF01-0AB0 is a SIMATIC ET 200SP analog I/O module packing 4 current inputs and 4 current outputs into a 35 mm deep housing – one of the slimmer slices in the ET 200SP family, so it fits tight DIN-rail rows without crowding the next slot. Inputs accept standard 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and bipolar ±20 mA, making it a straight drop-in for pressure, flow, or temperature transmitters on 4–20 mA loops, plus the occasional ±20 mA signal from a load cell or valve positioner. Wire-break detection is active on 4–20 mA channels only – a line-down fault fires a diagnostic alarm that tells maintenance exactly which loop dropped, no guessing.
What the numbers mean for fit and scan rate
Each input channel converts in 1.1 ms; the module cycles all four inputs in 10 ms maximum. That means a PID loop updating every 10 ms is practical – fine for most process control, tight for fast motion axes. Input resistance is 50 Ω for both 0–20 mA and 4–20 mA ranges – same burden voltage as most two-wire transmitters expect, so no re-scaling at the field device.
Power budget and isolation
Draws 12 mA from the backplane bus and up to 40 mA from 24 V supply. Bulkhead isolation tested at 707 V DC type test between channels and backplane. Reverse-polarity protected against destruction, and each module carries electronic short-circuit protection referenced to frame ground.
