Pneumatic valve block on the ET 200S backplane
The Siemens 6ES7148-1DA00-0XA0 is a digital output module that mounts on the ET 200S distributed I/O system, integrating two monostable 4/2-way valves with spring reset directly into the backplane. It handles compressed air filtered to 40 µm, oiled (VG 32) or unoiled, with a rated flow of 300 l/min and a permissible working pressure range of 3 to 8 bar. This means it can actuate pneumatic cylinders or actuators on the same DIN-rail slice as the I/O, saving a separate valve manifold and the wiring between them. The module provides four pneumatic outputs and four electronic digital inputs, with two outputs dedicated to valve control. The valve switching time is 20 ms in both directions, which is the mechanical response of the spool — the electrical switching of the pilot is faster (1.2 ms to 4.8 ms). The signal for '1' is 13 to 30 V, drawing 7 mA typical, and the module supports 2-wire sensors with a max quiescent current of 1.5 mA.
Power loss is 3 W typical. From the load voltage 2L+ (24 V DC), the module draws up to 130 mA including the valves; from the backplane bus 5 V DC, it draws up to 40 mA. The 24 V DC supply feeds the valves and the electronics, while the 5 V backplane bus handles the communication with the ET 200S interface module. Isolation between different circuits is tested at 500 V DC, with a working voltage of 75 V DC / 60 V AC between circuits.
