The Siemens 6ES7151-1AA03-0AB0 is the IM151-1 Standard interface module for the ET200S distributed I/O system. It connects the ET200S station to a PROFIBUS DP network via a 9-pin sub-D socket, handling data volumes of 128 bytes each for input and output. The module supports transmission rates from 9.6 kbit/s up to 12 Mbit/s, with RS 485 as the physical layer.
Fieldbus and diagnostics
PROFIBUS DP is the only bus interface on this module — no TCP/IP or PROFINET IO support. The 9-pin sub-D connector includes a terminating module. Cable length can reach 1,200 m at the lower baud rates. SYNC and FREEZE capabilities are present, as is slave-to-slave direct data exchange, which keeps fast peer-to-peer transfers off the master cycle. Isochronous mode is not supported. Diagnostics are built in: the module reports group errors via the red SF LED and bus faults via the red BF LED. A green LED monitors the 24 V supply voltage. The diagnostics function is enabled, so the master can read module status without a separate watchdog.
Power budget and physical fit
Typical power loss is 3.3 W. The module draws up to 200 mA from the 1L+ supply and provides a maximum of 80 mA output current to the backplane. Mains/voltage failure stored energy time is 20 ms — enough to hold the process image through a brief dip. Isolation is tested at 500 V DC between the electronic block and the PROFIBUS DP interface.
