What the 12 Mbit/s and 244-byte I/O mean for your ET200S rack
The Siemens 6ES7151-1BA01-0AB0 is the IM151-1 High Feature interface module for the ET200S distributed I/O system. It connects the ET200S station to a PROFIBUS DP network at up to 12 Mbit/s, which is the maximum baud rate for that bus standard — so the bus cycle time is set by the master, not gated by this slave. Each scan cycle can exchange up to 244 bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data with the DP master.
Isochronous mode and diagnostic features
This module supports isochronous mode, meaning the DP cycle is synchronized with the PROFIBUS cycle and the application cycle in the CPU. For motion control or high-speed print-mark registration on ET200S, that synchronization eliminates jitter between the sensor input and the actuator output. Diagnostics are comprehensive: a group error SF (red) LED, a bus fault BF (red) LED, and a 24 V supply monitoring ON (green) LED are all present. The module also supports alarms, FREEZE and SYNC capabilities, and direct data exchange (slave-to-slave communication) — so a sensor on one ET200S can talk directly to an actuator on another without routing through the DP master.
Panel fit and power budget
The module occupies a 45 mm wide slot on the ET200S rail, with a depth of 75 mm and height of 119.5 mm. That 45 mm width is the same as a standard ET200S electronic module, so it does not consume extra rail space beyond the terminating module included in the delivery. Typical power loss is 3.3 W, and the module draws up to 200 mA from the 1L+ supply voltage. The 20 ms mains/voltage failure stored energy time retains parameterization through brief supply dips. Isolation is tested at 500 V DC between the electronic block and the PROFIBUS DP interface. The bus connection uses a 9-way Sub-D connector with RS 485 transmission, so the standard PROFIBUS cable and connector pinout applies.
