What this module delivers
Siemens 6ES7151-7AA21-0AB0 is a PROFIBUS DP master module classified as SFB type. It handles 244 bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data per cycle, giving a defined capacity for process image exchange. Integrated 128 kbyte memory retains data for up to six weeks at 40 °C ambient, so the module holds its program and parameters through short power outages without an external backup battery. The RS-485 bus interface is isolated, common-mode noise won't couple onto the backplane. Diagnostic functions include alarms, forcing of I/O, routing, and retentive variables that require a restart after power cycle. Multiple programming languages are available as option slots: CFC, SCL, GRAPH, HiGraph, plus the base set of LAD, STL, and FBD.
Panel fit and electrical coordination
The module has a width of 60 mm; the DP master component itself occupies 35 mm of that – account for the full 60 mm when laying out the DIN rail and enclosure clearance. Depth is 75 mm and height 119.5 mm, standard for S7-300 form factor. I2t is 0.09 A²·s – use this value for selective coordination of the module's supply circuit with upstream protection. Forcing and alarms are enabled, which means during commissioning you can override I/O states without altering the program logic for troubleshooting.
