What it is – the panel’s PROFINET gateway
The 6ES7153-4AA01-0XB0: This is the Siemens IM 153-4 PN IO interface module for the ET 200M distributed I/O system. It connects up to 12 S7-300 modules on a PROFINET IO backbone, handling 192 bytes of input and 192 bytes of output per exchange. MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) is supported – that puts it in ring topologies with failover, a feature often specced for high-availability lines but not every IM in this family carries. The I²t rating of 0.09 A²·s is the survival energy for the backplane bus – unusual to see published, usually tied to fuse coordination upstream.
Panel fit – dimensions and wiring
Standard S7-300 single-width format: 40 mm wide, 125 mm high, 118 mm deep. Clips onto the DIN rail same as any I/O module. Power supply range is 20.4–28.8 V DC; typical power loss 6 W. The 24 V supply inrush hits 4 A on hot plug – nothing unusual but the panel’s 24 V bus should handle it. The backplane current is 1.5 A max at 5 V DC from the bus, shared with connected modules.
