PROFINET IO interface with MRP and ARP
The Siemens 6ES7154-3AB00-0AB0 is an IM 154-3 PN interface module for the ET 200PRO distributed I/O system, connecting the remote rack to a PROFINET IO network at 100 Mbit/s with autonegotiation. It supports MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) for ring-topology fault tolerance and ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) for IP-to-MAC mapping, plus LLDP for topology discovery — the three protocols that let a PROFINET controller rebuild the network map after a cable break without a PLC program download.
IP65/67 sealed for direct machine mounting
Rated IP65/67, the module is sealed against washdown and dust ingress — it mounts directly on the machine frame without an enclosure, typical for food-and-bev or automotive body-shop lines where the I/O rack lives next to the actuators. The 90 x 130 x 60 mm footprint (width x height x depth) fits the ET 200PRO profile; hot swapping of modules is possible, so a failed slice can be replaced without powering down the backplane.
Diagnostic and monitoring signals
Front-panel LEDs cover LINK, MAINT, RX/TX, bus fault BF (red), group error SF (red), and 24 V supply monitoring ON (green). Diagnostic alarms and hardware interrupts are parameterizable; a swapping interrupt flags when a module is removed or inserted. The fuse in the lower part is exchangeable; the fuse on the IM-LP is not. Reverse polarity protection is provided against destruction, and short-circuit protection is present via the exchangeable fuse.
