Fieldbus bridge between PROFIBUS DP and AS-Interface
The Siemens 6ES7156-0AA01-0XA0 is a SIMATIC DP field bus coupler that links a PROFIBUS DP master to an AS-Interface network, handling the protocol translation and cycle management between the two fieldbuses. It transmits at up to 12 Mbit/s on the PROFIBUS side and completes a bus cycle in 5 ms for 31 slaves, which sets the update rate for the AS-i I/O data appearing on the PROFIBUS network.
Power budget and connection layout
Runs on 24 V DC, drawing a maximum of 170 mA total — 100 mA for the DP section and 70 mA for the AS-Interface section — so the 24 V supply rail needs to budget for that combined draw. Power connects via a 2 x 12-pin device connector; the PROFIBUS connection is a single 4-pin integrated socket, which means the cabling to the DP network is a dedicated M12-style or similar round connector, not a standard SUB-D.
