Power budget and hold-up time
The 6ES7157-0AA81-0XA0: Typical power loss is 4 W, but the module draws less in DP/PA link mode (approx. 2 W) versus Y-link mode (approx. 4 W). Maximum current consumption is 200 mA from the 24 V DC supply (100 mA in DP/PA link, 200 mA in Y-link). The 20 ms voltage failure stored energy time gives the control system a window to ride through brief dips — important for process plants that cannot tolerate a bus dropout on a sag.
Configuration and capacity
Supports the 'configuration during plant operation' feature — you can add or modify PA devices without shutting down the DP network. Up to five DP/PA couplers and a total of 64 slaves can be attached behind the link. The PROFIBUS DP side accepts baud rates from 9.6 kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s, with automatic detection.
