What it is and what it does
The Siemens 6ES7193-6UP00-0BP2 is a potential distributor base unit for the SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed I/O system. It distributes one bus potential and seventeen bus potentials from the left-side base unit to the I/O modules mounted on its right, using push-in terminals for field wiring. The, and AUX rails are bridged to the left neighbor, so this module does not create a new potential group — it continues the existing one. Rated for 10 A on both the / bus and the process terminals, with a maximum bus voltage of 48 V DC. The 10 A rating governs the total current that can be drawn through the bus bars to downstream modules — exceeding it risks overheating the backplane. External protection is required: a 10 A miniature circuit breaker with type B or C tripping characteristic for the respective rated supply voltage. Isolation is tested at 3 250 V DC between the backplane bus and the supply voltage, confirming the galvanic separation needed for safe integration into a 48 V DC control circuit.
Integration into an ET 200SP panel
This base unit occupies a single slot on the ET 200SP mounting rail. Its 15 mm width and 117 mm height match the standard ET 200SP form factor; the 35 mm depth fits within the standard enclosure depth. The push-in terminals accept conductors from 0.14 mm² to 2.5 mm², solid or ferruled stranded, with a strip length matching the terminal design — no screwdriver needed for termination. It provides 18 terminals connected to the and bus: one terminal for and seventeen for. The color code CC63 identifies the module-specific color identification plate, helping panel builders visually confirm the correct base unit during assembly. The module is designed for horizontal installation up to 60 °C and vertical installation up to 50 °C, with a minimum ambient temperature of -30 °C in both orientations. Installation altitude is allowed up to 5 000 m, with restrictions above 2 000 m detailed in the manual.
