ASIC DPC 31 for PROFIBUS DP slave designs
The Siemens 6ES7195-0BE11-0XA0 is an ASIC (DPC 31) that integrates a PROFIBUS DP slave protocol controller and a processor kernel in a single ASIC housing. It supports both PROFIBUS DP and PA at transmission rates up to 12 Mbit/s, with automatic baud-rate detection. Rated for operation from -40 °C to 85 °C and consuming typically 50 mA from a 3.3 V supply, the device is suited for intelligent slave applications in industrial environments. The on-chip telegram memory is 6 kbyte, and the firmware footprint can range from 4 to 24 KB, providing flexibility for application-specific protocol handling.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The part is specified for intelligent slave applications, so it directly replaces the DPC 31 Step A in existing BOMs without requalification of the PROFIBUS interface.
Integration notes
Bus access is handled entirely within the ASIC — no external protocol controller chip is needed. The housing is 4 cm² and fits standard SMD assembly lines. Maximum power dissipation is 0.2 W, so no dedicated heatsink is required in most industrial control cabinets.
