CPU with multi-protocol fieldbus – panel-fit summary
This is a Siemens S7-1200 compact CPU, order code 6ES7211-1HE31-0XB0, running on a 24 V DC supply with a permissible range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V. Operating temperature spans –40 °C to 70 °C, so it handles freezer lines or hot cabinet roofs. Programming languages FBD, LAD, and SCL are supported directly. The unit carries PROFIBUS, AS-Interface, MODBUS TCP, and UDP stacks – you get multiple fieldbus options in one CPU without extra comm modules.
How it differs from the 6ES7211-1BE31-0XB0
The 1BE31 variant is the most common basic S7-1200 CPU, but it lacks PROFIBUS and AS-Interface – you get only PROFINET and MODBUS. Here, the 1HE31 adds PROFIBUS (client/server) and AS-Interface master support, so a panel originally wired with a PROFIBUS drop doesn't need a gateway. Footprint is the same 90 x 100 x 75 mm; wiring and backplane are identical. If the BOM calls for a 1BE31 but the plant floor has legacy PROFIBUS slaves, this is a direct swap with no rewiring and zero configuration change for the fieldbus mapping.
