S7-1200 CPU with PROFINET and 4 Mbyte memory
The Siemens 6ES7214-1AG40-0XB0 is a compact S7-1200 CPU that provides 4 Mbyte of integrated load memory for program and configuration. It operates on a 24 V DC isolated supply, and supports LAD, FBD, and SCL programming languages. DCP (Discovery and Configuration Protocol) is enabled by default, which simplifies PROFINET device naming during commissioning. The CPU is rated for an ambient temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, covering extended industrial environments without additional derating.
Protocol and communication capabilities
This CPU integrates an OPC UA server, MODBUS, and UDP over TCP/IP for flexible connectivity. PROFIBUS is supported via an external CM 1243-5 or CM 1242-5 module. Network management includes SNMP and LLDP. The PROFINET interface handles standard real-time and TCP/IP communication, but does not support IRT or MRP, so it is not intended for isochronous motion control applications. The I2t rating of 0.5 A²·s on the outputs provides a surge-withstand figure for short-circuit protection coordination, useful when sizing external fusing.
