High-speed input capture
The 6ES7216-2AF22-0XB0: Six high-speed counters, each rated at 30 kHz, 32-bit including sign. They work as up/down counters or connect two incremental encoders with 90° offset pulse trains at up to 20 kHz (A/B mode). Inputs are per-group configurable as source or sink, so sensor wiring can be changed without hardware modifications.
Memory retention and backup
Program storage is maintenance-free on integral EEPROM. Retentive data (DB1 current values, bit memory, timers, counters) is buffered by a high-performance capacitor: 190 hours typical at 40 °C, minimum 120 hours. An optional battery module extends retention to 200 days.
