8-channel transistor output for S7-1200
The Siemens 6ES7222-1BF32-0XB0 is an SM 1222 digital output module for the S7-1200 controller family, delivering 8 transistor outputs rated at 0.5 A per channel at 24 V DC. Each output switches a resistive load up to 0.5 A, with a maximum switching delay of 50 µs for the 0-to-1 transition and 200 µs for the 1-to-0 transition — fast enough for solenoid banks and indicator lamps without missing edges. Short-circuit protection is not built in; an external fuse or electronic protector per group must be added in the field wiring.
Wiring and load considerations
The module requires a front connector (ordered separately) and draws 1.5 W typical power loss from the backplane bus. Unshielded signal cables can run up to 150 m; shielded cables extend the reach to 500 m, which suits distributed I/O layouts in larger panels. Lamp loads are limited to 5 W per output — incandescent indicators above that rating need a contactor or solid-state relay interposed.
Environmental and mounting envelope
The 45 x 100 x 75 mm (W x H x D) plastic housing snaps onto the S7-1200 DIN-rail assembly and carries IP20 protection for dry indoor panels.
