Module identity & key ratings
The Siemens 6ES7222-1BH30-0XB0 is a 16-point digital output module for the SIMATIC S7-1200 family, rated 24 V DC and 0.5 A per output resistive or inductive. Its operating temperature spans –40 °C to 70 °C, with horizontal installation derating to 55 °C and vertical to 45 °C. Diagnostic alarm and status feedback are built-in, but short-circuit protection must be added externally – the module itself provides none.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 0.5 A per channel is a per-output limit, not the sum. At 55 °C horizontal or 45 °C vertical you can still source the full 0.5 A from each of the 16 outputs – no global derating until ambient exceeds those thresholds. Response times are sharp: 50 µs turn-on, 200 µs turn-off, which suits solenoid banks and relay coils operating below 50 Hz. At 24 V DC the module draws 2.5 W typical from the backplane – budget that in your 24 V supply sizing.
Mounting & wiring notes
The module is 45 × 100 × 75 mm, mounts on the DIN rail, and requires a front connector. Unshielded cable runs up to 150 m; shielded up to 500 m.
