The 6ES7222-1HH32-0XB0: Sixteen relay outputs, each good for 2 A across 5–250 V AC or 5–30 V DC. That 2 A holds for both resistive and inductive loads; lamp loads cap at 30 W on DC, 200 W on AC. Temperature range spans -40 °C to 70 °C, so it'll work in chillers or near furnaces. Enclosure is IP20 — no protection against liquids. Short-circuit protection isn't built in; you'll need an external fuse per channel or group.
Dropping into a combi-module slot
If your BOM was built around a 6ES7223-1PL32-0XB0 (16 inputs + 16 transistor outputs), this 6ES7222 lands in the same 45 mm-wide S7-1200 slot without mechanical changes — same backplane connector, same mounting holes. What you gain: relay isolation and higher per-channel current on the output side. What you lose: the 16 inputs. If your panel already has a separate input module upstream, this swap is clean. No need to gut the whole line; just rewire the output side for relay loads (inductive flyback protection, external fusing).
Wiring and mounting
Requires a front connector (ordered separately). Shielded cable runs up to 500 m, unshielded up to 150 m. Diagnostic alarm available — useful for quick fault isolation on the line. Power loss typically 8.5 W. Broad approval set: UL, cULus, CSA, FM, Marine, KC, CE, RCM. Keep that for your quality doc control file; it covers most export routes without extra paperwork.
