The Siemens 6ES7223-1BL30-0XB0 is a 16-channel digital input module for the SIMATIC S7-1200 platform, rated for 24 VDC nominal input voltage. The 16 inputs are grouped in one common reference — no isolated groups, so all inputs share the same M reference. This matters when your field devices are on different power supplies: you need a common DC return or an external isolator. A logic "1" is guaranteed at 15 V DC at 2.5 mA minimum, and logic "0" at 5 V DC at 1 mA. Transition times are 50 µs rising and 200 µs falling. The module draws 4.5 W typical from the backplane bus — that's the power loss, not the field-side load. For a 16-channel input card, that's moderate; the backplane current budget in a fully loaded S7-1200 rack needs to account for it.
Environmental range and mounting constraints
The storage range is wider but the operating ceiling of 70 °C is the hard limit — above that, derate or add forced ventilation. IP20 means it's for dry, clean enclosures only; no washdown or dusty-area installation without a protective cabinet. Dimensions are 70 mm wide, 100 mm high, and 75 mm deep — it occupies one S7-1200 module width on the DIN rail. The module requires a front connector (ordered separately) for field wiring; the connector is keyed to the module type to prevent miswiring.
The -0XB0 is the current revision and supersedes the -0XA0 variant. Approvals include CE mark and FM approval. The RCM (C-TICK) mark covers Australian EMC compliance.
