Siemens 6ES7223-3BD30-0XB0 is an active-production S7-1200 signal module that adds two current-sourcing digital inputs and two solid-state (MOSFET) digital outputs to the CPU. Each channel is clamped to the 24 V DC backplane supply, with input thresholds at 1 V max for signal 0 and L+ minus 1.5 V for signal 1. The outputs switch up to 0.1 A resistive load per channel, adequate for pilot relays or indicator banks. The operating range stretches from -40 °C to 70 °C, so it handles cold-storage conveyors or unventilated panel summertime just as well.
