The 6ES7231-5ND30-0XB0: Operates from the backplane at 24 V DC, drawing a typical 1.8 W. Temperature range covers -40 °C to 70 °C, so it holds up in furnace-side cabinets or cold storage areas. Diagnostics include wire-break detection and a parameterizable diagnostic alarm — useful for field wiring fault isolation without opening the cabinet.
What the key ratings mean for fit
The 70 °C maximum ambient is a practical ceiling for panel placement: if the cabinet interior (after solar load or adjacent drives) pushes near that, the module keeps its accuracy. The -40 °C low end is common for outdoor or unheated equipment. Resistance inputs support potentiometric or resistive sensors; resistance thermometer (RTD) is not supported. Approvals: CE, FM, CSA, Marine, and RCM — covers North American, European, and Australian marine environments without extra component-level certification.
