One thermocouple channel, wide alloy support
The Siemens 6ES7231-5QA30-0XB0 is a single-channel analog input module for the S7-1200 system, accepting thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, C, and TXK/XK(L) over a ±80 mV range. That covers the common industrial alloys from iron-constantan (J) through platinum-rhodium (R, S, B) and tungsten-rhenium (C) — so one spare module backs up a furnace, a kiln, or a cold-junction reference on a process line.
Temperature range and panel fit
The 38 mm width and 21 mm depth mean it snaps onto the DIN rail and leaves room for the next slice — no fill-factor surprise. Power draw is 0.5 W typical at 24 VDC, negligible for the backplane budget. The integrating measurement principle filters out 50/60 Hz line noise without a separate filter cap.
