What the Analog IO Range Means for Your Loop
The 6ES7234-4HE32-0XB0 gives you four analog inputs and two analog outputs on a single 45 mm-wide module for the S7-1200 rack. The input side accepts current loops (4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA) and voltage signals (±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V), so it covers the common transmitter outputs and motion-control references without a separate signal conditioner. The output side mirrors those same ranges, letting you drive a valve positioner or VFD speed reference directly from the module. Each channel is parameterizable — you set the range and wire-break / short-circuit diagnostics in the TIA Portal hardware config. The diagnostic alarm and maintenance alarm flag a broken wire or out-of-range condition before the process drifts, which saves a trip to the panel.
Environmental Tolerance and Approvals
The 24 VDC supply draws 2 W typical — negligible heat contribution inside a crowded enclosure.
The 45 mm width means it occupies two S7-1200 module slots. Depth is 75 mm, height 100 mm — standard for the S7-1200 family. The front connector accepts shielded twisted-pair cable up to 100 m, which covers most machine runs without a remote I/O drop.
