CPU specs at a glance
The 6ES7288-1SR30-0AA0 is a Siemens S7-1200 CPU with 18 kbyte program memory, supporting LAD, FBD, and STL programming languages. It runs on 120 V AC or 230 V AC supply with transformer isolation rated at 1,500 V AC. The real-time clock is maintenance-free and holds for 7 days without power — no battery to swap. I/O image is 144 bytes each for inputs and outputs, with a per-device maximum of 128 bytes. The CPU handles 256 bits of digital I/O and 56 words of analog I/O.
Built-in motion and process control
Six high-speed counters are parameterizable: five single-phase HSCs at 200 kHz and one at 30 kHz; four A/B-phase HSCs at 100 kHz and one at 20 kHz. That covers encoder feedback for conveyors, spindles, or linear axes without an external counter module. PID closed-loop control supports up to 8 loops with continuous or binary controller outputs, auto/manual mode. Tuning is done in the engineering software — no separate loop controller needed for basic process regulation.
Communication and fieldbus
PROFINET IO is built in with autonegotiation and autocrossing; minimum update time is 4 ms depending on device count and data volume. The CPU can act as both IO client and IO server. RS-485 port runs at up to 187.5 kbps for Modbus RTU or USS drives. Shielded cable length max 500 m. PROFIBUS is available via an optional CM DP module.
DIN-rail mount, 110 mm wide × 100 mm high × 81 mm deep. Fits a standard S7-1200 footprint; leaves room alongside signal boards or communication modules in the same rail row.
