The Siemens 6ES7288-1SR60-0AA0 is the SR60 CPU in the S7-200 SMART line. It packs 30 kbyte of program memory (DDR), 144 bytes each of input and output image (256 bits digital plus 56 words analog per side), and runs LAD, FBD, and STL. The onboard PID controller handles up to 8 loops with continuous or binary outputs and auto/manual bump-less transfer — enough for a small packaging machine or a pump skid without a separate loop controller. Six high-speed counters are built in: four single-phase at 200 kHz and two at 30 kHz, or four A/B-phase at 100 kHz and two at 20 kHz, all parameterizable. That covers encoder feedback for a servo axis or a conveyor position loop without an add-on module. PROFINET IO is native with autonegotiation and autocrossing, minimum update time 4 ms. PROFIBUS DP is available via a CM DP module — the CPU can act as client or server. An RS485 port runs up to 187.5 kbps, shielded cable max 500 m. Two-wire or four-wire fieldbus drops are covered without extra comm cards.
Mounts on standard DIN rail. Dimensions 175 mm wide × 100 mm high × 81 mm deep. The hardware clock is maintenance-free with a 7-day backup — no battery to swap, but the RTC holds for a week without power. Power supply accepts 120 V AC or 230 V AC, transformer-isolated at 1500 V AC. That isolation keeps line noise off the backplane — useful when the same cabinet has drives or contactors.
I/O and forcing
Digital input signal thresholds: 5 V DC at 1 mA for a '0', 15 V DC at 2.5 mA for a '1'. Outputs are 144 bytes total. Forcing is supported — you can override an input or output in the program state for commissioning without rewiring.
