CPU with I/O and networking onboard
The 6ES7288-1ST60-0AA0 is a Siemens S7-1200 CPU with 30 KB program memory, 144 bytes each of digital and analog input and output image, and a hardware clock with 7-day backup time (maintenance-free RTC requires 7 days of power-on to charge). It supports LAD, FBD, and STL programming languages, and includes a PID controller capable of up to 8 loops with continuous or binary outputs and auto/manual mode. Onboard communications include PROFINET (with autocrossing and autonegotiation, minimum update time 4 ms) and an RS-485 port (max. 187.5 kbps, shielded up to 500 m). PROFIBUS is supported via an optional CM DP module.
I/O and special functions
The CPU provides 256 bits of digital inputs and outputs plus 56 words of analog I/O. Forcing and parameterizable high-speed counters are built in: 6 single-phase counters (4 at 200 kHz, 2 at 30 kHz) and 4 A/B-phase counters (2 at 100 kHz, 2 at 20 kHz). Digital input thresholds are split: I0.0–I0.3 see signal '1' above 4 V, signal '0' below 1 V; I0.4–I4.3 see signal '1' above 15 V, signal '0' below 5 V. The CPU can act as both PROFINET client and server, and supports up to 128 bytes of input and output data per device.
CE marked. Memory type is DDR; flash memory is present.
