Output current and grouping
The 6ES7288-2DT16-0AA0: Each output is rated 0.75 A at 40 °C and 50 °C (no derating across the typical panel ambient range). Uprating is possible only within the same group of 2 outputs — meaning if you parallel two outputs from the same pair, you can draw more than 0.75 A through the combined circuit, but you cannot combine outputs from different groups. This matters when driving a single load that needs more current than one output can source alone.
Input characteristics and wiring
The 8 digital inputs are current-sourcing (PNP logic), with a signal "1" threshold of +15 to +30 V DC and a typical draw of 4 mA at 24 V. Inputs can be paralleled, and each is isolated from the others via optocouplers. The module provides a status LED per channel — useful during commissioning to verify field wiring without a handheld meter.
The module measures 81 mm deep, 45 mm wide, and 100 mm high — it snaps onto the standard S7-1200 rail alongside the CPU and other signal modules. IP20 rated, so it's intended for a clean, dry enclosure; no washdown or outdoor exposure. Isolation tested at 500 V AC for one minute between channels and the backplane bus.
