Two analog outputs, voltage or current — what that means in the panel
The Siemens 6ES7288-3AQ02-0AA0 is an SM AQ02 analog output module for the S7-200 SMART PLC family, giving you two configurable output channels that each handle either ±10 V (11-bit resolution including sign) or 4-20 mA (10-bit resolution). It draws 80 mA from the backplane 5 V bus and needs a 24 VDC field supply with a -15/+20% tolerance — 20.4 V to 28.8 V — so it runs on a standard control-transformer supply without a separate regulator. The module snaps onto the DIN rail alongside the CPU and other I/O, occupying 45 mm of rail width — that's three slots in a standard S7-200 SMART rack layout.
Diagnostics and wire-break detection — catches a loop fault before the line drifts
Built-in diagnostics flag a short circuit on the output and wire-break detection on current loops. The module does not support re-parameterization while the CPU is in RUN — any output range change requires a STOP cycle or a full download.
