Four analog outputs, 12-bit resolution, voltage or current
The Siemens 6ES7288-3AQ04-0AA0 is an SM AQ04 analog output module for the S7-200 SMART PLC family. It gives you four analog output channels, each configurable for either ±10 V or 4-20 mA, with 12-bit resolution across the full span. That 12-bit resolution means you get 4096 counts across the output range — enough granularity for most valve positioning, VFD speed reference, or chart recorder signals on a production line. The voltage output is bipolar (±10 V), so it handles bidirectional drives or ±5 V signals without external scaling resistors.
Panel fit and power budget
The module is 45 mm wide, 100 mm tall, and 81 mm deep — it snaps onto the S7-200 SMART rail alongside the CPU and other signal modules. It also pulls up to 61 mA from the 5 V DC backplane bus, so factor that into your CPU's backplane power budget — the S7-200 SMART CPU has a limited 5 V supply for expansion modules. One thing to note: this module does not support reparameterization in RUN. If you need to change output ranges or scaling while the machine is cycling, you'll have to stop the CPU or build a workaround in the program.
