The 6ES7317-2EK14-0AB0: This is a S7-300 CPU with an integrated PROFINET interface, supporting up to 8 function modules (FM) and 32 modules overall. It handles 244 bytes each of inputs and outputs and includes isochronous real-time (IRT) for deterministic PROFINET communication – relevant if the line uses motion control or synchronized drives. Programming languages covered include LAD, FBD, SCL, STL, GRAPH, HiGraph, and CFC for continuous function chart – no need for additional software licenses if the existing team works in STL or GRAPH.
